What is your Refund and Return Policy?

Star Discount Chemist Refund and Returns Policy

Our returns policy is in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Returning an Item Purchased in Store

To return an item purchased in a Star Discount Chemist store, please take the item back to any Star Discount Chemist store or call your local store to make arrangements for the return.

Change of Mind

We know that sometimes people change their minds - that's ok! If you wish to return an item because you’ve changed your mind, Star Discount Chemist will offer you an exchange or refund provided that:

  • You return the item within 7 days of purchase;
  • You produce your original Star Discount Chemist receipt, online tax invoice or other adequate proof of purchase at the time you return the item;
  • The item must not have been used or damaged in any way including that:
    • The item is in its original packaging including manuals, pamphlets and all accessories;
    • The item is unopened, unused and in its original saleable condition
  • There are some products we cannot return with a change of mind. These products are listed below.

If these requirements cannot be met, Star Discount Chemist reserves the right not to offer an exchange or refund for change of mind returns.

Instances Where Change of Mind Return is Not Available

Star Discount Chemist can not accept the return of items from the following categories under the change of mind returns policy:

  • Medicines (Prescribed or Over The Counter)
  • Baby Formula
  • Fragrances
  • Vitamin Supplements
  • Consumable Products

CPAP Machines, Masks and Accessories returns

Due to the nature of these products, we are unable to provide a refund or return for a change of mind.

If the product is faulty, we will accept product returns with an exchange or refund.

Other Returns

Star Discount Chemist will accept product returns and provide you with an exchange, refund or repair where the product is:

  • Faulty or is not of acceptable quality
  • Not fit for its intended purpose, or
  • Unsafe for use or consumption (where applicable)

You will be required to present your Star Discount Chemist receipt, tax invoice or other adequate proof of purchase.

Star Discount Chemist may elect to return the product to the manufacturer to determine the nature of the problem.

Star Discount Chemist reserves the right not to offer an exchange, refund or repair where the item fault is a result of misuse or neglect.

Goods presented for repair may be replaced by refurbished goods of the same type rather than being repaired. Refurbished parts may be used to repair goods. Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality* and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

*Products must be of acceptable quality, that is:

  • Safe, lasting, with no faults
  • Look acceptable
  • Operate as they would normally be expected to do

Star Discount Chemist reserves the right to:

Assess the condition and age of returned goods prior to providing a repair, exchange or refund. This may result in a repair, exchange or refund being refused.

Please note:

  • Your original Star Discount Chemist receipt or online tax invoice are the best form of proof of purchase
  • Refunds will be issued using your original payment method

Returning an Item Purchased via Click & Collect:  

For further information on what can be returned, please refer to the Returning an Item Purchased in Store section above. As payments for Click & Collect orders are processed online, any refunds will be also processed using the original payment method. Please visit the store where you collected your order, who will be able to guide you through the return process. Alternatively, please contact our customer service team at info@stardiscountchemist.com.au

Returning an Item Purchased via Online Delivery:

To return an item purchased online, please contact our customer service team on info@stardiscountchemist.com.au to work out a solution.

Even though great care is taken in the shipping process, if your item(s) arrive(s) damaged, please contact us within 7 days of receiving your order to assess the damage and discuss a solution. You may be requested to provide a photograph of your item(s) and/or delivery package to help resolve the issue. Failure to notify our team within 7 days may result in your request being denied.

For returns under Australian Consumer Law, please contact us at info@stardiscountchemist.com.au to arrange a return of the item/s to us for assessment, exchange, repair or refund.

Returns or exchanges for faulty or unsatisfactory items will include refund of the original shipping fee, and Star Discount Chemist will cover the cost of return shipping. Exchanges will be posted free of charge.

For change of mind returns, the original shipping fee and shipping costs incurred to return the product to Star Discount Chemist, will not be refunded.

Refunds will be issued using your original payment method.

Online delivery orders that have been dispatched can no longer be cancelled, and you will need to follow the ‘change of mind’ scenario outlined above.
